Next Generation Rescue Boats for SSRS!
The Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS) is introducing a new generation of rescue boats designed by Birger Kullmann to improve performance, safety, and working conditions for volunteer crews operating along Sweden’s coastline and archipelagos.
The new vessels consist of a 12-meter cabin version and a 9-meter semi-open version. Both are equipped with Ullman seats featuring the iconic Ullman Biscaya Jockey Seats as well as Ullman Daytona Crew Seats, helping reduce physical strain during high-speed operations in rough seas and supporting crews during demanding rescue missions.
The 9-meter version is fitted with three Ullman Jockey Seats, while the 12-meter cabin version features four Ullman Daytona Crew Seats with mesh upholstery, providing enhanced ventilation and comfort during extended operations.
20 Years at Sea — KNRM Chooses Ullman Again
Being a rescuer demands readiness at any hour – even in wind force 11. For the volunteers of The Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue (KNRM), going to sea in six-metre waves means repeated heavy impacts as the boat launches off crests and lands hard in the troughs.
To protect their crews, KNRM is upgrading the suspension seating across their all-weather lifeboats. Ullman seats reduce fatigue, improve posture, and absorb the repeated shock loads that would otherwise take a serious toll on the body.
After more than 20 years of service, the next generation of Ullman Seats will ensure that crews arrive fitter at the rescue site – and return home safer.
