Legal Aspects on Injuries

Today it is a well-established fact that the operation of high-speed boats might be the most dangerous peace-time job you can find.

Studies show that more people get injured than in maybe any other occupation.

Most common sites of injury are lumbar spine, neck and knees.

Based on this knowledge the EU Commission and Parliament have put into effect very strict regulations on allowable exposure levels.

Some operators in Europe, e.g. KNRM in Holland, the UK Ministry of Defence and the Swedish Coast Guard have, however, already years ago realised that the costs for injuries on crews are such that it is unreasonable not to provide the best available working conditions.

Whether you need to recruit volunteers or keep trained operators in service, protecting the crews from injury is a sound measure
